Stool test collection
Stool Test Collection Standard (All Stool-Based Kits)
This guidance applies to all Regenerus stool-based testing, including GI360 Complete, Select, Essentials, Microbiome, CSA, and CSA+P panels.
Collection Timing
Where multiple stool samples are required, collecting on consecutive days is preferred but not essential.
All required samples must be collected within 7 days of the first collection.
Collection During Bleeding or Menstruation
Stool samples should not be collected during active bleeding, including bleeding from haemorrhoids or during menstruation. Please wait until bleeding has fully resolved before collecting.
Avoiding Contamination
To ensure the sample can be processed correctly, stool specimens must not be contaminated with urine or water. Please follow the kit instructions carefully to collect a clean sample.
Approved Collection Materials
Only the collection materials and specimen vials provided in your kit may be used. Samples submitted in alternative containers cannot be accepted for processing.
Preservative Fluid Leaks
If a small amount of preservative fluid has leaked but there is still fluid remaining in the vial, the vial may still be used.
If a vial has leaked completely and no preservative remains, please contact Customer Support for replacement.
Storage Requirements
Correct storage is essential for sample stability:
- Black and yellow top vials should be stored in the refrigerator after collection.
- The white top vial must be placed in the freezer on Day 3, together with the frozen ice pack, for a minimum of 6 hours, as this is the required method of preservation.
Only the white vial is frozen. All other vials remain refrigerated.
Dispatch and Return Shipping Window
Samples should be dispatched promptly after the final collection.
Where possible, we recommend collecting samples on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and arranging return shipment on Monday.
Samples should always be shipped on the same day, or the day after, the final sample is collected.
Return Packaging
Please ensure the return package includes:
- All specimen vials
- The completed requisition form
- The original kit box and supplied return packaging
This supports correct identification and safe transport to the laboratory.
Packaging and Acceptance Criteria
Regenerus Laboratories reserves the right to dispose of any specimens received that do not meet required collection or packaging criteria. In these cases, repeat collection may be necessary.
